Forum: etree Subject: Downloading whole HTTP directories?

Greetings again. This isn't in the FAQ but clearly should be. Some of the archives are presented as HTTP directories of files, not FTP directories, and no .zip. For example, the one I was interested in today was .

Which Win or Mac clients are recommended for downloading whole HTTP directories that are in this format?

if you're used to download with ftp, simply replace "http://"; to "ftp://"; in address string and you're good to go.

Not really. Yes, the URL works (and boy is that non-obvious), but the FTP server doesn't want to give out files. Here's the FTP listing from that directory:
ftp> dir
200 PORT command successful
150 Connecting to port 49202

Note that all of the .flac files have no permissions.

So, my question still stands. Is there an HTTP downloader that will work in this environment?

I assume this is the show in question?

http://www.archive.org/details/jmraz2008-03-23.flac

your 1st post did not have a link to the show.

this show is a special case. the show is not downloadable right now, yes you are correct, the flac files do not have the permissions to be downloaded because the show failed the flac integrity check (track 2 had a problem)

http://www.us.archive.org/log_show.php?task_id=29692607

so I will have the uploader fix this asap.

as far as your other question, on a regular show:

http://www.archive.org/details/jm2003-01-15.shnf

you can do two things:

1. Click 'whole directory' and it will start saving a 'zip-on-the-fly' file. If the connection is interupted for some reason, you'll have to start over.

2. my favorite: use a download manager to queue up all the lossless tracks and it will do it for you in a row and very little effort on your end. I use firefox browser and so can use the best utility for this: DownThemAll! (Freeware)

http://www.downthemall.net/

there are other internet-explorer OK download managers (such as Get Right: (costs$$)

http://getright.com/

I hope this answers your questions! plus, great taste in music (Jason Mraz). I've taped him since the beginning of his career. many good gems on here of his!

Hey Tyler,
Can you explain why there is no FTP for these two recordings:

http://www.archive.org/details/plf2008-07-12.spyder9.flac16

http://www.archive.org/details/phil2008-07-12.flac16

Are they "regular" shows that will have no FTP or are they awaiting some "fix" from the uploader?

Thanks for your help!

Forum: etree Subject: the missing 'FTP' link on details pages.

They are 'regular' shows that are fully set / done and ready to download.

unfortunately it looks like in early June 2008 the visual interface on each details page has changed (removing the FTP link, but you can still use the FTP...)

see here for more information:

Thanks! That was much more useful than "use FTP". FWIW, DownThemAll is excellent.
